MELROSE — The Melrose Police Department is pleased to announce that Chief Michael L. Lyle recently attended the prestigious Missing & Exploited Children Seminar for Chief Executive Officers.
MELROSE — As part of an annual public safety exercise, members of the Melrose Police Department participated in active shooter training this week.
More than 5,000 motorcycles will enter Melrose from Main Street (coming from Wakefield) around 1 p.m. They will then travel onto Lynn Fells Parkway, taking a right onto the Fellsways and then heading into Stoneham from Pond Street.

As part of the annual call to NEMLEC from the Boston Police Department, the NEMLEC Motorcycle Unit was on scene at the Patriots Super Bowl Parade in Boston on Feb 5. Melrose Police Officer Alan Brown was part of the team that attended.
Melrose Police and Fire, along with National Grid, are on scene at 1028 Main Street — near the intersection of Main Street and Pearl Street — investigating a smoking man hole.

Chief Michael Lyle would like to share a video that was sent to him last night by Chelsea Police Chief Brian Kyes. The video was made by the California Highway Patrol and is based off a poem written by retired Ohio State Trooper Bob Welsh entitled “My Christmas Eve.”
MELROSE — Chief Michael L. Lyle reports that the Melrose Police Department is investigating a break-in, and series of what are believed to be attempted break-ins, at several downtown businesses early this morning.
The 2019 Municipal & MBTA Police Officer examination is scheduled for Saturday, March 23, 2019 with an application deadline of February 19, 2019. A late fee will be applied to applications filed after February 5, 2019, so candidates are encouraged to apply early.
