MELROSE — Chief Michael Lyle announces that the Melrose Police Department will host its third annual golf tournament to benefit community programs.

WHEN:

Friday, Sept. 6

7 a.m. registration

8 a.m. shotgun start

WHERE:

Mount Hood Golf Club, 100 Slayton Road

WHAT:

The golf tournament serves as a fundraising event to support the Melrose Police Department’s community programs, many of which are free and open to the public, like the Junior Police Academy and the Rape Aggression Defense (R.A.D.) program.

Money raised from the tournament will also go toward the Melrose Police Scholarship Fund, which gives college scholarships to Melrose High School students pursuing an education in policing or criminal justice, and assist in funding the department’s K-9 unit program.

Pricing for the event is $150 per golfer and includes a cart, dinner buffet and a gift bag. Residents who don’t want to golf, but want to support the department, can purchase a dinner only option for $50.

Singles, twosomes and threesomes will be paired with others.

Melrose Police are also looking for tee and green sponsors, which are $100 each.

Those who are interested in playing, sponsoring the event, or who have questions should contact Detective Greg Forestell at 781-953-2376 or gforestell@cityofmelrose.org, or Officer John Goodhue at 781-572-8596 or jgoodhue@cityofmelrose.org.

Checks can be made payable to the Melrose Police Department, 56 West Foster Street, Melrose, MA 02176.
