A snowstorm affecting Melrose could result in an accumulation of as many as 12 inches, according to the National Weather Service. The snow is expected to begin overnight tonight, Thursday 2/24, and continue through Friday afternoon. Please continue reading to stay-in-the-know about the snow.

  • The City of Melrose will implement an emergency parking ban from Thursday night (2/24) beginning at 2:00a.m. until Saturday morning (2/26) at 7:00a.m.  On-street parking is prohibited during this time.
  • Melrose City Hall will be closed.
  • The Milano Center will be closed.
  • The City Yard will be closed.
  • The Melrose Public Library will be closed.

Driving Conditions & Shoveling After the Storm

  • The City encourages everyone to stay off the roads on Friday as much as possible, to give plow operators the room they need to effectively plow our streets.
  • The City would appreciate everyone’s assistance in clearing catch basins, fire hydrants, and sidewalks in their neighborhood after the storm.

Due to the storm, JRM, the City’s third-party trash collector, has canceled curbside pickup of trash and recycling for Friday, 2/25. Please find an updated Curbside trash and recycling pickup schedule:

Saturday, 2/26:

  • Pickup will take place for residents whose trash and recycling is normally picked up on Thursdays

Monday, 2/28

  • Pickup will take place for residents whose trash and recycling is normally picked up on Fridays 

Tuesday, 3/1

  • Pickup will take place for residents whose trash and recycling is normally picked up on Mondays 

Wednesday, 3/2

  • Pickup will take place for residents whose trash and recycling is normally picked up on Tuesdays 

Thursday, 3/3 

  • Pickup will take place for residents whose trash and recycling is normally picked up on Wednesdays

Friday, 3/4

  • Pickup will take place for residents whose trash and recycling is normally picked up on Thursdays will have their trash collected 

Saturday 3/5

  • Pickup will take place for residents whose trash and recycling is normally picked up on Fridays will have their trash collected
