MELROSE — Police Chief Michael Lyle reports that the Melrose Police Department arrested a registered level three sex offender this weekend after an investigation into a report of suspicious activity at a city apartment complex.

TYLER JACQUARD, 33, OF MELROSE has been charged with:

Trespassing
Disorderly Conduct

JACQUARD was also held on a parole violation relating to these charges.

On Saturday, Sept. 21, a Melrose resident reported to police that she had noticed a man watching her when she would exit her apartment building to walk her dog over the past several days

The concerned resident later checked the state sex offender registry online and recognized JACQUARD as the man she had seen watching her.

At approximately 8:45 p.m. on Saturday, officers patrolling on bicycle observed an individual matching the description given by the resident description. Police observed the man standing by a window and looking into an apartment. Officers approached the man and identified him as JACQUARD. He was arrested without incident following an on-scene investigation.

“I’d like to commend the officers who apprehended this individual on Saturday night, while they were on bicycle patrol in our community,” Chief Lyle said. “They were swift and effective in identifying the suspect, questioning him and placing him under arrest. I also would like to recognize the victim for courageously reporting this suspicious behavior to police.”

JACQUARD was held pending arraignment Tuesday at Malden District Court.

JACQUARD is a registered level three sex offender, and was convicted in 2014 and in 2015 for Open and Gross Lewdness and Lascivious Behavior.

These are allegations. All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty.
