Last evening National Grid’s electric and gas crews responded to reports of an incident involving two manholes at Essex Street in Melrose. No customers are without power or gas in the area. No injuries were reported. We are currently on scene working to restore the manholes. We are investigating the cause of this isolated incident, but have no indication this is gas related. We believe the cause is related to our underground electric infrastructure. The safety of our customers, the communities we serve, and our employees is the number one priority of National Grid.
