As part of Melrose Homecoming Weekend, the Victoria McLaughlin Foundation is hosting 5K road race to benefit the Melrose Public Schools.

WHEN:
Sunday, Oct. 8, from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

WHERE:
Knights of Columbus Hall 23 West Foster St.

Event details and schedule:

Race participants area also invited to an after party beginning at 11 a.m. in Melrose’s first “Beer Garden,” featuring Ipswich Ale.  Music and entertainment will be provided by John Plunkett, a local artist and DJ. Race participants are granted access to the Beer Garden as part of the race entry fee. A race bib will serve as admission ticket and I.D.’s will be checked upon entry. Passes for the Beer Garden will be available for $25 for non-race participants if space allows.

Bib number pick up: October 7, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Marathon Sports, 401 Main St.

Race day number pick up: Knights of Columbus, 23 West Foster Street, Melrose.

Race day registration: 8:30 a.m.

Race start time: 10 a.m.

Registration on race day: $40

Registration on race day for students: $20

Included with registration fee: adults who choose the $35 registration get one beer ticket and one meal ticket

About the Victoria McLaughlin Foundation:

The Victoria McLaughlin Foundation was organized in January 2008 to provide financial support to the Melrose Public Schools, specifically for the Melrose Veterans Memorial Middle School Library, the Melrose High School Library and any other after school learning opportunities within the music, fine arts, drama and academic programs offered by the Melrose Public Schools. To date, the Victoria McLaughlin Foundation has raised over $100,000 for the Melrose Public Schools.
