Today, at approximately 11:30 a.m., Melrose Police Officer John Goodhue was working a detail on Upham Street when he noticed a resident having car issues.
After investigating, Officer Goodhue learned that the woman was coming off Route 1 when she hit a curb, causing her to get a flat tire.
The woman told Officer Goodhue that AAA was on the way, but it would be a half hour until a truck arrived. Instead of making her wait, he offered to change the tire for her, which the woman graciously accepted.
“This is a true example of what it means to be a community police officer,” Chief Lyle said. “I commend Officer Goodhue for this good deed and for going above and beyond to help a resident in need.”
