Melrose Police Officers Participating in No-Shave November to Benefit Two Charities

MELROSE — Chief Michael L. Lyle is pleased to announce that the Melrose Police Department is participating in No-Shave November to raise money for Autism Speaks and Cops for Kids With Cancer.

A nonprofit organization, No-Shave November works to “grow” cancer awareness and raise funds for education, research and prevention.

In Melrose, the campaign will run from Nov. 1 to Jan. 1. Participating officers pledge at least a $100 to grow out their facial hair. All proceeds will go to Autism Speaks and Cops for Kids With Cancer.

“I certainly support both organizations, as they raise money for two important causes,” Chief Lyle said. “We chose to extend this campaign an additional month to really give officers the opportunity to raise awareness and money for cancer and these charities, while establishing some sufficient facial hair growth.”

Additionally, at the end of the 60 days, Chief Lyle will present an award to the officer who is voted to have the best beard by his peers.
