Melrose Police Department Investigating Stabbing

MELROSE — Chief Michael L. Lyle reports that the Melrose Police Department is investigating a stabbing that occurred last night.

On Sept. 16, at approximately 9:57 p.m., a Melrose police officer was dispatched to the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital, 585 Lebanon St., on a report that someone had been stabbed.

Upon arrival, the officer learned that a 17-year-old male from Melrose had been stabbed. The victim was outside Walgreens when a car with three males in it pulled up. The three males then got out and stabbed the victim six times.

The victim was taken to Melrose-Wakefield Hospital and then transported to Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston with non life-threatening injuries.

“We want to stress that there is no danger to the public,” Chief Lyle said. “This was an isolated incident and we believe that these individuals are known to each other.”

The matter remains under investigation by Melrose Police. Anyone who was in the area, or who may have information on this incident, is asked to contact the Melrose Police Department at 781-665-1212.
