Melrose Police Partner with Melrose Running Club for Adopt-A-Site Program

MELROSE — Police Chief Michael L. Lyle would like to thank the Melrose Running Club for donating approximately two dozen perennial flowers to the facade of the police station as part of the city’s Adopt-A-Site program.

The police station, 56 West Foster St., is one of approximately 60 Adopt-A-Sites in Melrose. Residents, businesses or clubs in the city volunteer to dress up a dedicated space on the list with flowers and greens.

Each spring, volunteers tidy, plant and then maintain the spots, using city-supplied mulch and loam. Flowers are purchased by the adopter. In the fall, they clean up the area to prepare for the winter.

Alastair Drummond from the Running Club volunteered to plant and maintain the flowers at the station, which he arranged around the flagpole and by the emergency phone last week.

“The perennials really beautify the outside of the police station,” Chief Lyle said. “We appreciate the Melrose Running Club’s commitment and help to improve the appearance of our section of the city.”
