Melrose Police Department Student Interns Learn on the Job

MELROSE — Police Chief Michael L. Lyle is pleased to report that three Melrose High School Seniors students are spending their last semester at the police station.

MHS Seniors Michael Roscigno, Sabrina O’Brien, and Daniel Munday joined the Melrose Police Department this spring and will serve for six weeks as part of the Melrose Police Department Student Intern Program.

As part of their work, the students will take on a project of visiting hundreds of local businesses to hand out and collect police department information sheets and emergency contact forms. These forms are very helpful to the police department during off hours of businesses in reaching a key holder in case of an emergency.

The students will also help officers and Chief Lyle with a variety of tasks during their internship.

“The Student Internship Program allows the Melrose Police Department to bring young people into the department to learn about policing and to assist us with projects and day-to-day tasks,” Chief Lyle said. “We are grateful to our three students for taking time this spring and summer to work with the Police Department.”
