Melrose Police Chief Michael Lyle is warning Melrose residents to be on guard against a potential scam regarding “Air Duct Cleaning.”

A resident reportedly received an aggressive solicitation by phone call from a person claiming that they needed to make an appointment to check and clean the air ducts in their home to make sure they were safe.

The caller said that the “government recommended it.”

There is no legal requirement for “air duct cleaners” to enter your home or for you to pay them anything. Chief Lyle suggests that if anyone has any concerns, they should call Melrose Police right away at 781-665-1212.
