Video: Melrose Police Searching for Suspect Involved In Bicycle Theft
MELROSE — Police Chief Michael L. Lyle is asking for the public’s help in identifying and locating a man allegedly involved in stealing a bicycle.
On July 13, around 2 p.m. police responded to Promax Supply, 142 Franklin St., to take a report of a past larceny.
A man informed an officer that his boss had a Trek Marlin 5 bicycle stolen from the front of the building on July 8 around 6 p.m. The man had several still photos of the suspect and a security video from the business.
The suspect is described as a heavyset white man, who appears to be in his 40s, with light brown hair and a small bald spot on the back of his head. He was wearing a ripped green Boston Celtics shirt, possibly with white paint or plaster on it, and faded blue jeans with what appears to be rip under and near the right front pocket.
Surveillance cameras show the suspect walking in front of the building, flicking a cigarette and later stealing the bicycle.
The images and video will be used as evidence and to identify the suspect during the investigation.
“We ask that if anyone recognizes or knows this suspect to please call us, or send us an anonymous tip,” Chief Lyle said. “We hope to bring justice to this case.”
Those with information are encouraged to call the Melrose Police Department at 781-665-1212 or submit a tip online at melrosepolice.net/contact.
