Please come back to this page between the hours of 8 a.m. and 11 p.m., when the Melrose Police Department Overnight Parking Exemption Request Form is active. This is only a temporary overnight parking exemption (e.g., out of town guests, family emergency, unusual circumstance). If you are planning a Melrose residential construction project and require an extended period (more than 7 days), please contact the Melrose Police Traffic Office at 781.979.4485, and speak with the Traffic Supervisor to accommodate you during the construction period.

NOTE: Each resident is only allowed to request 12 overnight parking days per year. The license plate number entered on form must be an exact match with your vehicle’s plate. Any deviation between the plate entered into the form and the actual plate will result in a citation.

The form will appear at 8 a.m., please refresh this page if the form does not immediately appear.

Alternatively, you have the option to purchase an annual overnight parking permit for $120/year from the Melrose City Clerk’s Office. With the annual overnight parking permit you are allowed to park overnight in any of the Melrose Municipal Lots, as well as the Melrose Commuter Train Lots. Please note all municipal lots begin time zone parking at 8 a.m., with the exception of the three (3) commuter train lots, that begin at 6 a.m.. You must remove your car on or before 6 a.m. in the train lots, or by the posted time limit in the remaining municipal lots. For example, the time zone parking begins at 8 a.m. in the Dills Court lot aka, CVS/Shaws, and there is a 3 hour limit. To use your overnight parking permit in this lot you must remove your car on or before 11 a.m. (8 a.m. start + 3 hour limit). Take careful note of the posted time limit signs posted in each individual municipal lot.
