Melrose Police Seeking to Identify Man Who Robbed Bank Saturday Afternoon

MELROSE — Chief Michael L. Lyle reports that the Melrose Police Department is seeking to identify a man who robbed a bank Saturday afternoon.

At approximately 12:10 p.m., the Melrose Police Department received a report that the TD Bank, 478 Main St., was robbed.

The male suspect walked into the bank and demanded money from a teller. He was given an undisclosed amount of cash and then fled the area.

No weapons were shown and no injuries were reported.

The suspect is described as a white male between 35-45 years old. His height and build were average and he had dark hair, with a beard and mustache. He was wearing a dark colored coat with a hood pulled up and a baseball cap underneath.

Police officers responded to the bank and used a K9 to track the man for a short distance before losing his trail. He is believed to have left the area in a vehicle.

Investigators will be reviewing video surveillance footage from the area.
