Melrose Police Department Interns to Assess Damages to Street and Stop Signs Throughout City

MELROSE — Chief Michael L. Lyle reports that two Melrose High School students will be canvassing the city assessing damages to street and stop signs as part of their internships with the Melrose Police Department.

Beginning next week, the two seniors will spend the next month identifying any worn, bent or obscured street, stop, parking or advisory signs. Once the list is compiled, it will be sent to the Department of Public Works for review.

“Every year we have a project for MHS seniors who intern with the department,” Chief Lyle said. “This year, we felt it would be prudent to address the signs that are damaged or covered by obstructions, like long tree branches, so the appropriate action can be taken to ensure they are fully visible.”
