A Melrose resident reported receiving a phone call from an 800 number yesterday claiming to be a Bank of America agent, asking to speak to the resident about an account. The caller asked for the resident’s social security number to “verify” the account, and thankfully the resident refused.

Chief Lyle reminds residents NOT to give out their social security numbers, bank account numbers, or other personal information to unsolicited callers.

If you have any questions or concerns, call Melrose Police at 781-665-1212.
