Melrose Police Offer Three Easy Ways to Submit Anonymous Tips

New Website Form, Text Line, and Phone Line All Available Now

MELROSE — Police Chief Michael L. Lyle is pleased to announce that the department now has three easy ways for members of the public to contact the Melrose Police Department or submit anonymous tips.

“Your eyes and ears are a vital part of keeping Melrose a safe and peaceful place to live, work, and visit,” Chief Lyle said. “I am proud that we offer these easy methods for members of the public to reach out to the department, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.”

1. Melrosepolice.net/Tips

The Melrose Police Department has a new website! Melrosepolice.net (also available at melrosepolice.com and melrosepolice.org) has been completely redesigned from the ground up by JGPR. One of the features the department added was a quick, easy, frustration-free email form. Members of the public can visit melrosepolice.net/tips, and they will see a simple box, where they can type their tip and press “Submit.”

No names, email addresses, or phone numbers are collected, unless the tipster wants to add that information to the comment form.

Their email will immediately be sent to the MPD Command Staff and Shift Commanders.

The new MPD website also contains a news blog, daily police logs, safety tips, and useful police forms that you can download, saving a trip to the police station!

2. 781-665-TIPS

MPD also has a confidential phone number where members of the public can leave a voice message for police anytime. The number is 781-665-TIPS (8477).

We do not store your phone number when you call.

3. Text-A-Tip

The Melrose Police Department also offers an anonymous Text-a-Tip service.

If you send a text message to TIP411 (847411) beginning with the word “MELROSE” your tip will be submitted securely and anonymously to the department.

Of course, the Melrose Police Department reminds you to call 911 during a life-threatening emergency. These services are not meant to initiate an immediate police response to a location. ALWAYS call 911 during emergencies.

You can also follow MPD @MelrosePolice on Twitter or call the general business line at 781-665-1212 for general inquiries.
