Melrose Police are investigating an incident that took place on October 27th 2012 at 1500hrs (3pm) involving an assault on a female victim. The victim was on foot near a wooded road at the Bellevue Golf Course grounds. The male perpetrator approached the victim from behind and knocked her to the ground. The victim was fortunately able to scream and ware off continued assault by the perpetrator, who then ran off.

The perpetrator is described as a white male, unknown age, (as he had approached from behind the victim.) The victim was able to see the suspect’s athletic shoes, color red. Suspect also had a strong smelling cologne. Police ask that all residents and visitors to the area use caution at all times.
